About Steve
Steve Durose is mostly known for being one of the guitarists in the alternative rock band Oceansize, and more recently Vennart and Amplifier.
During more than 15 years as a musician, he has also been spending time on the other side of the glass enjoying the craft of producing and mixing artists. "I have always been drawn to the processes behind what makes a recording actually sound like a record". Over the years he has been fortunate to have worked with and observe the techniques of some great producers including Chris Sheldon, Danton Supple, Dan Austin and Mark Williams. "There is nothing more fulfilling than learning from people you admire so greatly". His experiences have left him with the rather unique perspective of understanding the process from the artists side as well as the engineers.
"As an artist you have a vision of how the music will sound when it is finally released. It has been my goal to work with and help the artist achieve this".
Testimonials
"Mixing this record with Steve was smooth and painless, and a year later I’m still yet to hear any holes in the work. I couldn’t be happier with the mix. We had an agreement that every channel had to have a point of interest, top to bottom. Steve achieved this with aplomb." - Mike Vennart - (Biffy Clyro/Oceansize/Vennart). Album - To Cure A Blizzard Upon A Plastic Sea
"Working with Steve on my last two albums has been such a pleasure. He's an imaginative and knowledgable producer with a keen ear for detail, and he always takes great care in making sure we get the best results out of whatever we're doing. Steve's great and diverse musical taste shines through in his creative choices, and his heritage as a member of two of the greatest alternative rock bands of this century speaks for itself." - Charlie Barnes - (Bastille/Charlie Barnes). Album - Oceanography
"Working with Steve on my debut EP was an absolute joy from beginning to end. So refreshing to deal with a true professional, from his excellent communication down to his fast & efficient work ethics. Most importantly, what I most valued was Steve’s sonic Imagination & dexterity as well as ability to deliver killer mixes in various genres – from warm, wonky digital electronica right the way through to piercing art-rock. Steve’s commitment to the overall project vision never faltered as he pushed every track beyond my original expectations due to his vast experience and mixing precision" - Jonathan Stolber (The Holy Road & Knife Ballet). EP – An Unshakable Demon
